On Monday afternoon, the Colorado men’s basketball team released their non-conference schedule for the next year. In the press release, they dropped the bomb that ESPN is coming back on November 17 as Colorado hosts their 24-hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon for their home game against Auburn.
“For the first time in its history, the University of Colorado men’s basketball team will participate in the ESPN 24-hour College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon when the Buffaloes take on the Auburn Tigers at the Coors Events Center on Monday, Nov. 17 at 11 p.m. (MST). The game will be televised by ESPN2.
ESPN’s seventh annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon will feature more than 24 hours of consecutive coverage to mark the start of the 2014-15 season over Monday, Nov. 17 and Tuesday, Nov. 18 – will feature 19 men’s and women’s college basketball games across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. The schedule includes 17 men’s games and two top-25 women’s matchups concluding with the fourth annual State Farm Champions Classic from Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The CU/Auburn match up will be the second ever meeting between the two programs, and first in 18 years. They last met 18 years ago on December 29, 1996 at the Big Island Invitational (Hilo, Hawai’i) with CU taking a 78-72 overtime victory. The Tigers are coached by former Tennessee head coach/basketball analyst Bruce Pearl. Pearl begins his first year with Auburn and takes over a program that went 14-16 last season.”
Looks like I won’t be sleeping for the next three months. November 17th can’t come soon enough.
