If there has been one thing going right in Boulder it has been basketball. Both on the mens and women’s side of the game. Colorado hosted the Washington State Cougars on Thursday night. The Buffs came into the game with a 9-5 record. The Cougars came in 8-5. Colorado had not matched up with another since Dec. 18th. Due to COVID-19 they have had 3 games they had to skip.
It wasn’t pretty but the Buffs came away with the win taking the Cougars down 83-78. Jabari Walker came alive in the second half and a 20 point night by Battey led the Buffs to be victorious in Pac-12 play. They had to shoot 64% in the second half to squeeze out the win. Turnovers really became a problem in this contest which allowed the Cougars to remain close.
Forward Evan Battey led the way with 20 points. 2-3 from the three point line, and 7 for 8 in field goals. Tallying 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Inching in just behind was Keeshawn Barthelemy racking up 17 points and 4 rebounds. Going 5 of 12 from the floor, along with 4 assists. Jabari Walker joined in with their success getting 16 points on 7-11 from the field with an astounding 8 rebounds. Tristan da Silva got into double digits as well with 10 points. Nique Clifford came in off the bench with 9. Impressive offensive performance from the team as a whole. They just need to work on keeping those turnovers down. Especially as they get deep into the Pac-12 against teams that will make them pay harder for it.

Colorado will go on to play the Washington Huskies on January 9th. Hoping to keep their momentum rolling and confidence at an all time high, to play No. 8 Arizona in two weeks. The big guns are coming and time will tell just how well Colorado will match up with the Pac-12’s best.
