Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam has been named to this years College Football Hall of Fame. Born on October 8th, 1974 this American college footballer played in the NFL player for 4 seasons during the 90’s. Salaam played for the University of Colorado and went on to have a Heisman campaign in 1994. He was first picked by the Chicago Bears in 1995. He also went through Cleveland and Green Bay in Oakland during his tenure in the NFL.

Salaam was a sensational college athlete as well. During 1994 he had one of the best performances a running back of any school has ever had. Rushing for 2,055 yards and becoming only the fourth college running back to run for more than 2,000 yards in a season. He also accumulated for 24 touchdowns and helped the Buffaloes to an 11-1 record. They went on to beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl that season.

In just three seasons with Colorado he carried the ball for 3,057 yards and 33 touchdowns before his induction into the NFL. His numbers will stand the test of time and such a remarkable feat for that short of time in the NCAA.

He had a great start to his NFL career with Chicago. Becoming the youngest player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards. He spent some time in the XFL and CFL before his days in football were done. Unfortunately he took his own life in December of 2016, but his memory will forever live in the College Football Hall of Fame.
