The CU Buffs women’s basketball team is back on the winning side of things. Finally, after a tough start of the 4 game road trip in the Pac-12, the Buffaloes won an overtime thriller right when they needed it the most. Another loss would have surely put a damper in their confidence going back home. They beat Utah 66-62 and head coach JR Payne has her girls right where she wants them again.

CU Buffs superstar Mya Hollingshed led the way with another double double and scored 16 points and 11 rebounds. It also marked Mya’s 22nd double double. It seems she makes history every time she hits the floor these days. Peanut Tuitele also scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Tameiya Sadler hit the double digit marker with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Quay Miller was still productive off the bench giving the team 5 points and 5 rebounds, a couple assists and 3 steals.

Colorado showed the true grit and toughness that head coach JR Payne always talks about in her players. They are fighters and they proved that in Salt Lake on Friday night. The CU Buffs now 14-4 will head back home to Boulder and once again take on the Utah Utes. Where I am sure they missed having home field advantage that will give them even greater confidence to win again.

On paper Utah has better numbers but on the court the women of Colorado have somethings that spreads and statistics do not show. They have an inner warrior inside of them all. Head coach JR Payne has instilled that kind of tenacity in her players for success. The power to win, the resiliency and clutch performances, and the will to keep fighting and never give up. They proved that Friday night and it turned out in their favor. The Buffs will be back at it at the Coors Events Center on Sunday afternoon. Mya Hollingshed will lead the squad and once again get the Buffs back in the thick of things in the Pac-12, and calm any doubters minds of where Colorado will go from here.
