Colorado vs Washington State Odds: Line, Spread, Over/Under
Coming off a narrow 60-58 loss to Washington, the 13-7 Colorado Buffaloes now head to Washington State to take on the 11-7 Cougars at 8:00 PM MST. WynnBET has the Buffaloes as 5.5-point underdogs and +185 on the moneyline (bet $10 to win $18.50) while the over-under is 132.
Colorado defeated the Cougars 83-78 earlier this month. Will we see more of the same or should bettors look elsewhere for value?
Colorado vs Washington State Prediction
Bolstered by strong defenses and relatively weak offenses, these two teams have been under machines. The under is 7-3 in Colorado’s last ten games and 8-2 in Washington State’s. So how on earth did these teams combine for 161 points in their first matchup?
Well, it starts with free throws, as these squads combined for 48 free throw attempts. The Buffaloes love to draw fouls. They’re 20th nationally in offensive free throw rate and the Cougars are 276th in defensive free throw rate. Meanwhile, the Cougars rank 14th in offensive rebounding percentage, giving them more opportunities to get to the charity stripe.
While the Buffaloes have an advantage in free throws, they do turn the ball over on just over 20% of their possessions, which will give Washington State an opportunity to push the ball in transition and get quick baskets.
I don’t know what to make of the total being only 132, so I’ll instead look to a spread that I believe is too high. While just 2-4 in their last six games, Colorado played UCLA and USC close and beat Oregon. All three of those teams are better than a Washington State team that is just 3-7 against the spread in their last ten home games.
Colorado was only 3.5-point underdogs to UCLA and 2.5-point dogs to USC. While they were 8-point underdogs to Oregon, they won that game outright. So I struggle to see why Washington State should now be favored by 5.5 against someone that already beat them this season when better teams were favored by less.
The Buffaloes have played close games all year and I think this one stays close too. Give me the Buffaloes +5.5 as my best bet in a tightly contested Pac 12 matchup.
