Colorado Buffaloes former star Petra Hyncicova made her second Olympic appearance in the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing today. From the Czech Republic, Petra competed in the 7.5 km Skiathlon, Cross-Country Skiing event. Hyncicova finished in 26th place with a time of 48.40.8. A total of 4:27 behind the leader and gold medalist Therese Johaug from Norway. Russia’s Natalia Nepryaeva won the silver and Teresa Stadlober from Austria won the bronze. Both just a little over 30 seconds behind Johaug.

Hyncicova is a cross-country skier who skied for the CU Buffs from 2015 to 2018. She competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the 15 km Skiathlon where she finished 47th. Hyncicova also competed in 3 other events in PyeongChang. 28th was her best in the standings. The 2022 Olympics already marks her best performance in an Olympics Games. Out of 65 of the best Skiathlon competitors in the world 26th place is a fantastic feat for this Czech Republic Olympian.

She looks to carry on to women’s individual sprint races on Tuesday. 3:00 a.m EST and 1:00 a.m. MT is when qualification starts off. Coming off of her best Olympic experience so far hopefully we will see this CU Buff turn some heads and shock the rest of the skiing world. She’s already done substantially better which is what you strive for from one Olympic Games to the next. Tune on to NBC late night Tuesday to see if she can break even more barriers for herself and challenge the best in the universe at her event.

Former CU Buff Alvar Alev will be competing for Estonia in the men’s 15k Skiathlon on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. MT. He will be starting at 56th looking to climb up to the best in the world.
