Former CU Buff Taylor Gold goes for it all this Thursday in the halfpipe finals with legendary snowboarder Shaun White. Gold brought some old school tricks out of the bag to make it into the halfpipe finals. The 28-year old from Steamboat Springs, Colorado is looking to make a bigger name for himself on the biggest stage of his sport.

In the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi Taylor Gold narrowly missed making the finals. Now this push it to the limit type of snowboarder looks to do a lot more than just compete in the finals. He won’t play it safe, that’s not him. He will put it all on the line and do whatever it takes to win. Go big or go home.

Taylor is also a player who has battled injuries. After battling back from 4 surgeries this 28 year old is here to show the world that an athlete with tougher journys produce the greater rewards. He knows he has a chance to be on the podium every time he’s out there. Let’s hope the Olympic judges will feel Taylor’s vibe. Gold is such a fitting last name for an athlete, and especially an Olympian. If he does win gold he will be the only person with the last name ever to do it. Shaun White will also have a chance for another Olympic medal for his elusive career and last ever performance as an Olympian. USA’s Chase Josey will join the fellow Americans in the finals as well. Tune in on NBC Thursday, at 8:30 PM ET/6:30 PM MT.

CU Buff’s own Petra Hyncicova will also be back at it on Thursday in the Women’s 10km individual, Cross-Country Skiing race. Starting at 12:00 MT.
