Former Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Delrick Abrams Jr. was recently selected in the 8th round, first overall to the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL draft. With that being said, Abrams Jr. was the first corner selected overall in the entire draft as corners were selected in rounds 8-11.

Abrams Jr. was a 3-star JUCO recruit who committed to the Colorado Buffaloes in December of 2019. Delrick fielded offers from various teams such as Arkansas, Boise State, Mississippi State, and West Virginia to name a few.

Thankfully he chose the University of Colorado.

He was a solid player during his two-year stint in Boulder. The 6’3″ corner appeared in 21 games over that span, collecting 96 total tackles — 72 of which were solo. He also accounted for 10 pass deflections while achieving his lone sack in 2019.

Delrick spent the 2020 season with the Atlanta Falcons and appeared in three games for the team. He was signed to a future/reserved contract in January of 2021 but was eventually released later that year in August.

Most recently, the Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams added Abrams Jr. to their practice squad in December of 2021.

The United States Football League is scheduled to kickoff their inaugural season on April 16, 2022. The league consists of eight teams and you’ll be able to watch some, if not most, of the games on Fox or FS1. The league is also partnered with NBC, Peacock, and the USA Network so make sure to check the listings.

The league is formatted to play a ten-week schedule, including two additional playoff rounds.

The Bandits schedule is currently not released to the public yet. The only game that is currently scheduled on the USFL website is the New Jersey Generals vs. Birmingham Stallions set for April 16 at 7:30 PM ET on NBC/FOX.

Best of luck to Abrams Jr and the Tampa Bay Bandits this upcoming season!
