The Colorado Buffaloes now have even more NFL experience coming to Boulder. Former NFL wide receiver Brandon Lewis Gibson has signed on as a wide receiver analyst for the Buffs. Looking to bring his talents to Boulder to spread onto the next generation.
Gibson was Washington State’s all-time leading receiver catching for 2,756 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was a third-team all American for the Cougars, and had All-Pac-10 honors. Brandon Gibson has the experience in the Pac and experience as a leading receiver to teach these guys how to become champions of the game. Not only that, but how to get to the next level and have a successful career in the NFL.
He was drafted in 2009 with the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round. A short time after he was traded to the St. Louis Rams where he played for 4 seasons. In 2012 he moved on to the Miami Dolphins from there for two seasons. A year later he signed with the New England Patriots but never saw much playing time due to injury. His retirement came in 2017 officially after problems with his ACL injury after a 6 year career.
Gibson caught for 2,711 yards in his time as a pro with 233 reception and 13 touchdowns. His best year was in 2012 with the St. Lous Ram bringing in 691 yards and 5 touchdowns in that breakout season. Surpassing his previous best season in 2010 with the Rams when he caught 620 yards and two scores.
Wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan knows him well. It has come full circle in Colorado with the coaching staff. Head coach Karl Dorrell coached McGeoghan and now McGeoghan looked back on coaching Gibson. McGeoghan was an assistant wide receivers coach from 2012-2014 for Miami and went onto to become the wide receivers coach in 2015. Phil is well aware of his capabilities and what he can bring to the program, and excited to have him in Boulder. It’s already becoming a family of sorts here in Colorado.
