Colorado Buffaloes Football: Vic So’oto leaves Boulder for the California Bears
By Shay McBryde
Former and short lived defensive line coach for Colorado has already found a home with the California Bears, as the new outside linebacker coach. Yesterday head coach Karl Dorrell addressed the situation at a press conference that Vic So’oto was leaving for family reasons. So’oto entirely disputed those comments today that family reasons were not a part of the decision.
Dorrell explained on Monday that he was disappointed to lose Vic after just two months, but it was purely family related. As he has 5 younger children and he needed to be there for family support.
One begs the question as to why Karl Dorrell would speak on something that isn’t true? Possibly to keep a good image of So’oto and not upset the fans. However, at this point we know that sports is a business and fans would have much respect for a coach who is being honest. As we all know coaches come and go but this situation was a strange one to say the least. So’oto was only a part of the program for two months and seemed very excited for where the program was heading and what he wanted to accomplish for the Buffs.
Vic went on to say that he’s coached across the country and will continue to do so via Twitter. He’s thankful for Rick and Karl and the gang and wish them nothing but the best. But his decision was based on a lot of reasons and thankfully they aren’t in the dire need of family support at this moment. While he still seems to have nothing but love for the program of Colorado it does have Buff Nation puzzled as to why now. Fans do speculate more money was probably involved to acquire him. He is one of the best younger coaches and recruits well. As of right now it looks like there will be no hires for the position. Defensive coordinator Chris Wilson will take over.
