The Colorado women’s basketball team are still reeling high off their first round win in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament. After ending the season with a 5 game win streak the herd stretched that out to six, shoulder to shoulder for their 21rst win of the season.

Head coach JR Payne said once Tameiya Sadler got hurt late in the game the team really rallied around that. They were able to go on a 10-0 run to close out the game against the Washington Huskies. They love that girl more than anything, and she knew that Tameiya would want them to play the way everyone knows they are capable of playing. The team locked in and did that for those last several minutes.

Mya Hollingshed hit three triples in a row that really helped out the team. Different players stepped up in different spurts of the game. The emotional leader of the game was Jaylyn Sherrod. In time outs and the huddles she led in prayers. It was a total team effort for the Buffs.

Due to Colorado losing to Washington last year there were nerves and there was some apprehension to start off, but Colorado rallied and found a way to win. JR Payne expects her team to be a little bit more settled in the next game from the start. To be able to set the pace early will be key into not digging a hole they have to crawl out from.

The CU Buffs take on the No. 14 team in the nation the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona is a 4 seed team taking on the 5 seed Buffaloes squad. The 20-6 Wildcats are coming off a 3-2 record to finish out their season. Led by Cate Reese, their leading scorer at 14 points a game and Shaina Pellington at 11.0. They will have to get past the Buff’s leading scorers senior Mya Hollingshed and junior Pac-12 sixth woman of the year Quay Miller for a shot at the next round with Stanford or Oregon State. Tip off begins at noon PT on the Pac-12 Network at Michelob Ultra Arena.
