Unfortunately for the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team, they didn’t hear their name called on Selection Sunday. Instead, the Buffs will be playing in the NIT Tournament as they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies Tuesday night at the Coors Event Center.
Colorado’s NCAA Tournament hopes essentially came to an end Friday night as they fell to the eventual Pac-12 Champion Arizona Wildcats. Colorado needed to win that game to add on to their resume but came up short.
Instead, the Buffaloes will take part in the NIT Tournament as they’ll get another home game at the Coors Event Center.
Students, fans, faculty — please pack the Coors Event Center Tuesday night because this team deserves every bit of it. Colorado finished the season with a record of 21-11 as they placed fourth in the Pac-12 standings.
Not to mention, give Evan Battey one last standing ovation. His hard work and dedication over the years to this program hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The Buffs were originally projected as a three seed in the NIT Tournament but the committee slated them as a four seed.
The game is scheduled for Tuesday night at 11pm EST and will be aired on ESPN2.
Colorado will be facing a tough Bonnies team that placed fourth in a tough Atlantic 10 conference. St. Bonaventure finished the season with a 20-9 record as they fell to St. Louis in the A10 quarterfinals after missing two free throws to take the lead.
St. Bonaventure is an extremely veteran team which features five key seniors such as Jalen Adaway, Jaren Holmes, Kyle Lofton, Dominick Welch and Osun Osunniyi.
This is a really good test for a young and inexperienced Buffaloes team that seemed to figure it out more and more as the year went on.
