Evan Battey will forever be known as one of the greatest men who stepped onto the court in Boulder. On court and off he goes down in history as someone for all players and men to aspire to be. He would have loved to see his team head off to the NCAA Tournament, sadly those cards were not on the table. Colorado was given an NIT berth and luckily the Buffaloes got to finish off their season at home with all their fans.
Unfortunately the night didn’t end like Battey and the Buffs wanted it to, but there is a moment to be remembered that is bigger than basketball. Which is the size of Battey’s heart and character. Colorado went down 68-76 against a St. Bonaventure team that just had no quit in them. Evan ended his last game as a Buff with 14 points, and 5 rebounds. He didn’t go out on top but he is very happy he got to finish his career in Boulder where it all began.
Here are some kind words some fans and members of the sports nation had to say about Evan Battey and his miraculous career:

Evan Battey is a high class individual. Appreciated him coming up to Kerr Kriisa after that Arizona game in Vegas! As an Arizona fan I’m glad he’s graduating, cause he was really good for CU. Best of luck on what’s next

What an amazing player to represent CU.
Buffs fans will forever be thankful @EBduece1 🙌🏼 pic.twitter.com/hvUkWQU1ba
Evan Battey: "If you asked me, if I would have kept the story book ending of beating Arizona or have the chance to play in front of all these fans, the people I love and the whole community again I would choose the latter every time. The fans showed out today."

An amazing career comes to a close for Evan Battey.

You’ve heard it so many times, but there truly is no better representative for the program, university and community than 21.
Good luck in your future endeavors, and we’ll be awaiting your return to Boulder.

You are a great basketball player but you're an even better person! It's been a pleasure watching you play these last few years. Thanks for the memories#themayorofboulder#inBatteywetrust#skobuffs pic.twitter.com/F3QvHOT1SC
Agree @AdamsonAshley. Evan Battey has been one of my favorites to cover. A great ambassador for @CUBuffsMBB, @pac12 and CBB. https://t.co/SXydQvPXG1

Who knows what kind of team will show up in the NIT & it’s not neutral site. These games can be the real deal.
— Mid-Major Madness (@mid_madness) March 16, 2022
I know this is a mid-major account but Evan Battey was one of the most fun dudes to watch in college basketball. He’ll be missed in Boulder.
Tough end to the season for Tad and @CUBuffsMBB But a big thank you to Evan Battey. It’s been fun watching him play so hard and so well during his time in Boulder. Fans of all the local teams wish him the best.

With that last bucket, Evan Battey became 19th #CUBuffs player to reach 1,300 point mark in career. Needs six more tonight to reach Jay Humphries at No. 18

There really aren’t enough kind things you can say about Battey. A man of the highest class and caliber. He will forever be missed and remembered as the Mayor of Boulder, and one of the greatest men to have lived. What he has done for this program will likely be unmatched. Although Colorado may have not won a Championship they won the biggest prize of all in this guy. We wish you all the best for the future and hope to see you back in Boulder one day. You deserve the world and we will be there to cheer you on when you get it.
