Colorado Buffaloes senior Evan Battey has been a staple in this lineup for the past four years. Due to COVID-19, the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to players that were affected by the lost season. However, it sounds like Battey will forgo his extra year of eligibility and go the professional route.

It would’ve been a treat to see Battey back in Boulder one more season, but it didn’t seem like it was in the cards from the start. You could kind of sense it after the big win over second ranked Arizona at the time.

Battey had the entire Coors Event Center crowd surrounding him on senior night, in what was his last conference game at home, as his gave a final speech.

Battey was instrumental in Colorado’s success this past season. The big man was Colorado’s second leading scorer tallying 12.4 points on 50.2% shooting. What’s more impressive is Battey led the entire Pac-12 in three point percentage shooting at 48.8%.

That’s an unreal feat considering the conference has players such as Drew Peterson (USC), David Singleton (UCLA), and Jay Heath (ASU) who are lethal from downtown.

The season prior he shot just 12% from distance. Talk about a complete turnaround

Battey appeared in 133 games over his four year career in Boulder, averaging 9.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

His leadership and energy that he brought in on a daily basis will be sorely missed not only in the locker room, but in the community as well.

It’ll be interesting to see what Evan’s future holds for him and we will be following his journey every step of the way.

Best of luck, Ev!
