In a surprising turn of events, Colorado Buffaloes linebacker/edge Carson Wells and linebacker Nate Landman went undrafted in this years NFL Draft. Everyone was kind of thinking both could’ve been selected in the late rounds but that wasn’t in the plans.

It’s always a “what if” game if Landman doesn’t get hurt in the game against the Utah Utes in 2020. He might’ve been a top three-round draft pick and making an impact on someones team already.

Arguably one of the better defensive players in Colorado history, Landman is tied for fifth all-time in Buffs history with 409 tackles over a five-year span. It’s been tough sledding for him the past few seasons as he has been constantly dealing with injury, missing the second half of the 2021 season which would be his final in a Buffs uniform.

“The Hammer” managed to link on with the Atlanta Falcons, signing as an undrafted free agent. Landman will be joining former teammater Isaiah Oliver

As for Wells, he was projected to be a third-day guy but never got the call as well. He was really making a name for himself during the East-West Shrine Bowl and even turned heads at CU’s pro day, running a 4.56 40-yard dash.

Even former teammate and current Tulane running back Ashaad Clayton was confused with no one taking Wells.

While Wells hasn’t officially signed with a team yet, we are guessing it won’t take long for someone to reach out to him and bring him in. Wells mentioned to BuffZone.com that he willing and able to contribute wherever he’s needed.

"“I know wherever I end up, I’m gonna do my best to stick. I’m gonna come in from day one and just show my value, whether it’s any linebacker spot – I feel like I can play any linebacker spot, really – and then come in and play on all four special teams right away. I’m just somebody you can bring in right away and I feel like I’m gonna find a spot.”"

Wells finished his Buffs career with 154 tackles and 17.5 sacks, forcing one fumble with three interceptions to his name.
