After seeing teammate Nate Landman sign with the Atlanta Falcons after the NFL Draft Saturday night, Carson Wells finally reached an agreement with a team, and it so happens to be the AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals.
You can tell Carson is frustrated with the fact that he didn’t get to hear his name called on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, but he will be making sure he makes the most of it in Cincinnati.
Wells was turning heads at the East-West Shrine game and even making waves at CU’s Pro Day with his 40-yard dash time.
Carson set career-highs across the board in his final season in Boulder, appearing in all 12 games while finishing with 51 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, and one interception.
Wells set a career-high for sacks with 6.5 in the 2020 shortened season. Just think of what the production would’ve looked like in a full scheduled season.
Wells will be joining former Buffs corner Chidobe Awuzie and defensive tackle Josh Tuopu.
The Bengals are fresh off a Super Bowl appearance in which they just fell short against the Los Angeles Rams, 23-20. Chido collected five tackles, one pass deflection and even recorded an interception in the loss.
Cincinnati added cornerbacks with their first two picks in the draft, drafting Michigan’s Dax Hill 31st overall and Nebraska’s Cam Taylor Britt in the second round, 60th overall.
A big issue with Cincinnati last season was their protection for quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals went and added North Dakota State offensive lineman Cordell Volson in the fourth round.
Best of luck to Carson on his new journey with the Cincinnati Bengals and hopefully we see his name in the lineup once the season rolls around.
