Spencer Dinwiddie has had a whirlwind of a season so far. But he capped off 2022 and his first year with the Dallas Mavericks on a high note. The six-foot-six guard finished the game against the Warriors with 26 points, 4 assists, and 2 blocks, and went 7-for-12 from the field. Any loss is tough but he went out in fine fashion leading into next season.

On the year he averaged 13.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. He began as a starter in the beginning of the season for the Washington Wizards. Unfortunately the Wizards chose money over talent and traded him off to the Dallas Mavericks. Luckily for Dinwiddie the Mavs were already Western Conference contenders. Though he was no longer a starter in Dallas he had a huge impact for them. He has two years left in his contract so hopefully we get to see more of that magic off the bench next season.

On the positive side he left a Washington team that was not so accustomed to winning. Goodbyes are always hard but he joined a squad that wins and loves to win. Which was a great fun and new experience for Spencer.

There’s nothing but respect from Dallas to the Golden State Warriors. Sadly the better team just won the series. But the Mavericks will be back and better next season. Golden State went up quickly in the Western Conference Semifinals by 3 games. Dallas followed that with a victory in game 4. However, it was just too little to late for the Mavs as they couldn’t continue to match up to them. Ultimately the great Warriors won the game 120-110 to secure their spot in the NBA Finals. They will take on the Celtics or the Heat. Boston is up on Miami 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The mayor certainly had a year to be proud of. Now an NBA veteran he went from a struggling team to a chance to make the NBA Finals. His bench presence is one of the reasons why Dallas had that shot. A smart pick up from the Mavericks to get Dinwiddie, and we at Buff Nation can’t wait to see what he can do with even more time and experience and fun in Dallas.
