Colorado Football: Forever Buffs Evan Worthington and Drew Lewis faced off in USFL matchup

Forever Buffs Evan Worthington and Drew Lewis got to play on the same field again but this time they were each other’s opponents. Worthington of the Philadelphia Stars met Drew Lewis of the Houston Gamblers. It was another close one that the Gamblers let slip away again. Philly won the contest 35-24.

Evan Worthington had a productive game with 4 solo tackles, and 3 assisted. Houston’s Drew Lewis made the box score this week with one solo tackle and one assisted. Stars quarterback Case Cookus completed 21-for-31 in passing with one touchdown and 163 yards. Rushing for Philly dominated the game as Colburn and Holland shared a pair of touchdowns.

Houston QB Kenji Bahar threw for 101 yards and a touchdown in the effort, while Mark Thompson ran in a score for himself with 47 yards in the game. Tight end Brandon Barnes was the only other touchdown for the Gamblers.

Next the Stars take on the Michigan Panthers where Evan will now go up against another Buff in Devin Ross. The Panthers faltered to the Breakers this week but Ross did have 38 yards on just two receptions. The Gamblers will next battle will be against the Bandits at Legion Field. Drew Lewis will meet with former Buff Delrick Abrams Jr. who is just coming off a 6 tackle game against The Generals.

In the coming weeks we will see if these Colorado Buffalo greats have what it takes to make a post-season run. Houston will meet with Tampa Bay at 4:00 PM on Peakcock. Michigan will challenge Philadelphia at 12:00 PM on Fox on Sunday. Tune in to watch some fun at Legion Field in Birmingham.
