Deion Sanders is unconcerned with what conference Colorado football will eventually call home once the Pac-12 disbands — telling the crew of Thee Pregame Show as much on the July 11 edition of the podcast.

“I don’t care whoever you put on the schedule,” Sanders prefaced before saying, “I want our kids to be dominant. I want our kids to compete. I want our kids to win. So, I really don’t care that much about whatever it is. I know at the end of the day it’s going to be business. (Colorado AD Rick George) is going to do the best thing for the university and always has. I have full respect and understanding that Rick is going to do the right thing.”

Sanders said it was George, not himself, who was in charge of where the Buffs end up in the future.

“Rick George has done a wonderful job of keeping me abreast of what’s all going on, but it’s not my responsibility to say where we’re going and what we plan on doing,” Sanders said.

Colorado football lauded by Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormack

In what should register as highly interesting comments to Colorado football fans, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormack had high praise for the Buffaloes program for what it has accomplished over the last year.

“I think they’ve done an incredible job,” Yormack said about Colorado (h/t Buffs Beat’s Brian Schaible). “If you look at how they’re elevating and amplifying their brand and engaging with their fans, they’ve done a wonderful job. I wish them well.”

Hearing Yormack build up the Buffaloes’ brand can only be seen as good news for Colorado fans hoping that the ever-expanding No. 3 conference in college football picks them up. The alternatives would be a loaded Big Ten where Ohio State, Michigan, and USC will lord over the rest of the conference and hog up the College Football Playoff spots year after year — or a yet-to-be-established conference lacking the prestige of the current Power Five conferences.
