Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders was compared to rap star Lil Wayne by Buffs Beat’s staff in a reference to the Buffs HC’s social media response to a generated fake quote response “from” him to Oklahoma coach Brent Venables’ — who had previously issued “Prime Time” criticism of his recruiting methods.

“Please read this slowly,” Sanders prefaced before saying, “I’ve Never responded to any of these Great coaches that choose to target me or our program here (at Colorado football). I’m Great at walking & talking the talk & if it were truly me I would’ve referenced a LAMBORGHINI. That’s #CoachPrime.” In response, the Buffs Beat staff made a humorous allusion to the creator of five different volumes of Tha Carter.

“It feels like Lil Wayne when he was talking about being stopped on his jet by the Saudi Prince,” Buffs Beat’s staff prefaced before saying, “For the record, Lamborghini over Ferrari every day of the week. We’ll see what Coach Prime has to say on Friday at Pac-12 Media day.”

Brent Venables called out Deion Sanders’ recruiting methods with Colorado football

Sanders made waves when he got to Boulder by telling many Colorado football recruits to hit the transfer portal. Venables used his Big 12 media day to connect himself to the attention “Prime Time” can’t help but receive in his first year as a Power Five head coach.

“I gave guys 12 months of grace. I was unlike Deion,” Venables told KREF 94.7 FM (h/t CBS Sports). “I gave guys 12 months of grace to figure it out. Here’s three: Go to class, live right off the field, and when you show up here you show up with respect and appreciation with your opportunity. And if you go 0-for-3 for 12 months, you need a fresh start, so we helped 21 guys, give or take, find a fresh start.”

While Sanders evokes the names of rappers, Venables evokes the Simpsons GIF of Homer’s father yelling at clouds with bitter remarks about a coach from another conference.
