Star Colorado football transfer Travis Hunter has just one year of experience under his belt at Jackson State in the SWAC, but despite the former top-rated Class of 2022 recruit having not played a game at the Power Five level yet, 247Sports’ National College Football Analyst Carl Reed wants to see the DB mentor incoming 5-star freshman Cormani McClain.

“Hunter will potentially start on both sides of the ball for the Buffaloes,’ Reed prefaced before saying, “I’d love viewers to see how Hunter gets his work in and how he takes five-star freshman Cormani McClain under his wing.”

McClain was listed as ESPN’s No. 4 prospect overall in the 2023 class before the Lakeland product flipped his commitment from Miami to Colorado — registering as the highest-rated recruit the Buffaloes have landed since 2006.

Analyst on Colorado football being on a college football version of Hard Knocks: ‘Sign me up right now’

Between Hunter, McClain, Deion Sanders, and the great roster turnover “Prime Time” has promoted with his viral speeches to the previous regime’s recruits, Reed is itching to see Colorado football on a CFB version of HBO’s Hard Knocks.

“What is better than having Prime Time on prime time? The Deion Sanders is the most polarizing figure in college football,” Reed prefaced before saying, “Whether you follow him to cheer for him or to hate on him, you are tuned into him everyday. And even though Sanders would no doubt be the star of the show, there are other storylines that would carry their own weight for this show. You’ve got Sanders coaching up his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and interacting with an experienced staff with plenty of big names. You’ve also got the background of Sanders rebuilding his entire roster. Sign me up right now.”

Most college football diehards — and even those who remember watching Sanders star on the baseball diamond and gridiron simultaneously during the 1990s — would tune in to see the greatest modern media circus the sports currently has to offer. And because of “Prime Time,” Boulder will likely get elevated coverage even if it’s not a Hard Knocks-esque program.
