Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders‘ son, Shedeur, was a “surprising” snub from the All-Pac-12 Team — which saw his teammate, defensive back Travis Hunter, earn a nod and fellow transfers Jimmy Horn Jr. out of USF and Mark Vassett from Louisville earn honorable mentions — according to the staff of Buffs Beat.

“While Hunter was the lone Buffaloes’ player to officially make the list, USF transfer wide receiver Jimmy Horn, Jr. and punter Mark Vassett were honorable mentions at their respective positions,” Buffs Beat’s staff prefaced before saying, “What’s surprising is Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders, along with a few of his teammates who made other lists, were omitted by select Pac-12 media members.”

Shedeur had 3,732 passing yards, 173 rushing yards, 46 all-purpose touchdowns, and six interceptions during the 2022 season with Jackson State in the SWAC. The Tigers ran the table during the regular season and conference championship before falling short in the HBCU’s Celebration Bowl to North Carolina Central.

‘Revolving door of NFL minds’ have visited Colorado football since Deion Sanders took over

Since Sanders became the lead voice of the Colorado football locker room, there has been a surplus of other lead voices from NFL huddles. Several pro quarterbacks, both past and present, visiting the Buffaloes and more specifically, his son Shedeur. As Buffs Beat’s Josh Tolle said, it’s been a “revolving door of NFL minds” in and out of Boulder since the “Prime Time” era began in December 2022.

“Colorado’s NFL legacy has been throwing with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning going back to his days in high school,” Tolle prefaced before saying, “But a new Broncos QB was recently welcomed into Boulder. Russell Wilson took time to give Sanders some pointers and brought his A-game in front of the camera, including Thee Pregame Show. The Super Bowl Champ is the latest to take a visit to CU’s campus. It has seemed like a revolving door of NFL minds coming to visit since Deion Sanders took over less than eight months ago.”

While Russell Wilson isn’t exactly The Centennial State’s favorite son at this moment, his presence at CU to help Shedeur along, in addition to QB G.O.A.T’s Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, indicates that there is a concerted effort by Deion to make the Buffaloes a legitimate threat again in the Pac-12.
