Rap legend Ice Cube believes Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders deserves a biopic film more so than fellow two-sport great Bo Jackson, revealing why during an interview with CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin.

“I mean, Deion Sanders is actually my friend, so I would probably wanna do a movie on Deion before Bo,” Ice Cube prefaced before saying, “And both of them were amazing athletes, but Deion, he’s played in a World Series and a Super Bowl, so I think the movie should go to him (first).”

Truthfully, there is no wrong choice between the two. Jackson’s exploits at Auburn made him one of the Plains’ greatest legends, but Sanders was objectively the more successful baseball player on longevity alone. Comparing a running back to a cornerback is a less cut-and-dry issue, but Sanders’ outspoken nature — and legendary coaching run since December that has produced countless viral moments — juxtaposed against Jackson’s more reserved nature post-playing career makes him a far more entertaining story. If played by the right actor, of course.

Colorado football making a bowl game would make the 2023 season a potential movie idea by itself

At this point, with the bearish 3.5 over/under win total given by Las Vegas to Colorado football, Coach Prime getting the Buffaloes to bowl eligibility by itself would make for a potential movie script. Colorado State is the 2023 slate’s only reprieve, with the College Football Playoff runner-up, TCU, and a longtime Big 12 rival now in the Big Ten, Nebraska, as CU’s other non-conference games.

With one of the country’s toughest schedules and the added drama of Sanders’ health preventing him from making a Pac-12 Media Day appearance, the script truly writes itself. Let’s hope the eventual Coach Prime biopic is a feel-good story fueled by the next few seasons in Boulder and not a rise-and-fall story instead.
