Nebraska analyst implies Colorado coaches approve abusive practices
5-star Colorado football recruit Cormani McClain‘s recent claim that he puked no less than seven times after a Buffaloes practice has some, like Husker Corner’s Oliver Vandervoort, believing that the CU coaching staff actually approves of a player being overworked to such a nightmarish degree.
“I suppose there’s something to be said for the fact that it wasn’t Deion Sanders that was bragging about his players throwing up,” Vandervoort prefaced before saying, “Maybe he knows that’s not something to brag about. Of course, it feels like McClain wouldn’t be talking about how many times he hurled unless it was tacitly approved of by his coaches.”
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has admitted to going at McClain particularly hard in practice, but a 21-year-old kid being proud of making a teammate puke is different than a coaching staff being proud of it.
Deion Sanders accused of emulating Nebraska’s Scott Frost during Colorado football coaching tenure
Vandervoort’s article featuring the aforementioned accusation toward the Colorado football coaching staff was titled “Deion Sanders refuses to learn from Scott Frost’s mistakes” — and included a misguided comparison of the fired former Cornhuskers head coach to “Prime Time.”
“The bottom line here is that it should be clear that no one should want to imitate Scott Frost in any way in regards to his days with Nebraska football,” Vandervoort prefaced before saying, “From his verbal gaffe problems to his inability to really recruit or coach, there’s just nothing anyone should want in common with his former regime in Lincoln. On the other hand, if Deion Sanders and company want to follow in Frost’s footsteps, more power to them. Especially when they play Nebraska football this September.”
Sanders didn’t inherit nearly as much talent as Frost did at Nebraska, needing to aggressively overhaul the roster on his own to raise CU’s ceiling. Even if Sanders were to match Frost’s 4-8 record in the ex-Nebraska coach’s first season in Lincoln, it’d be a success for the Buffaloes; who will have hit the over on their Las Vegas over/under win total.
The level of disappointment Frost reached with the Cornhuskers may never even be eligible to be matched by a Coach Prime-coached Colorado for as long as Sanders is in Boulder.
