Colorado football is “not completely hopeless” when it comes to its 2024 recruiting situation despite its mere eight commitments and swing-and-miss on 5-star Venice cornerback Charles Lester III according to Buffaloes Wire’s Jack Carlough.

“I wouldn’t consider Colorado to be completely hopeless with the early signing period still months away,” Carlough prefaced before saying, “Alabama and Georgia were also in the picture at the time of (Lester’s) commitment, albeit less so.”

CU still has the chance to flip Lester up until the point he signs his letter of intent with Florida State. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time Deion Sanders will have stolen a highly-touted defensive back from the Seminoles…

FSU analyst doesn’t think Charles Lester III will flip to Colorado football

Chop Chat’s Kelvin Hunt doesn’t believe Coach Prime has another Travis Hunter-esque flip from FSU coming, instead deeming Lester as different from Hunter or even Cormani McClain, who flipped to the Buffs from Miami this offseason.

“I know FSU fans have PTSD with Deion Sanders and recruiting cornerbacks, dating back to the Travis Hunter debacle in December 2021,” Hunt prefaced before saying, “However, this recruitment was quite different for all the reasons I listed earlier this week. This addition was a huge recruiting win for Mike Norvell, Patrick Surtain, and Adam Fuller. The commitment thrusts FSU back in front of Clemson for the No. 8 ranking nationally.”

With the Seminoles projected to be a potential ACC dark horse, choosing to join Mike Norvell at this point in time isn’t difficult to understand. That said, CU has nearly unrivaled excitement in its modern history with its recently-announced Big 12 jump and the exploits of “Prime Time.” A 2023 season that doesn’t go the way Florida State and/or Colorado expects it to could open the door for a flip from the Class of 2024’s No. 38 overall recruit.
