College football insider Bruce Feldman doesn’t believe Deion Sanders is long for the Colorado football program — predicting that he’ll be gone following the 2024 season either because he will have earned a role for a higher-paying job at a bigger football school or because he will have crashed and burned in Boulder.

“Two years from now? After the 2024 season? I would not be surprised if Deion Sanders is not the head coach at Colorado,” Feldman said (h/t AthlonSports). “I just don’t think that he is going to be there that long. It’ll either go really well. They were horrible before. So he goes from one win last year to maybe four or five this year. And then maybe eight or nine. Then I think he goes to a bigger school. Or it will not work out at all and they will all be at odds. I think there’s a lot of stuff that has the potential to create a lot of friction. If it doesn’t go great, then I think they go in a different direction.”

Sanders will always be linked to his alma mater Florida State, and replacing Nick Saban at Alabama has been floated by the likes of Paul Finebaum, so there is no shortage of potential options for Sanders after CU.

Deion Sanders could leave Colorado football after his sons graduate

A timeline that makes a lot of sense for Sanders to leave Colorado football would be to bounce once his sons have earned their degrees in Boulder. Shilo Sanders stands to have one to two more years of eligibility tops, while Shedeur Sanders likely has three years left at most.

Once his progeny is gone, Coach Prime could most certainly be a flight risk; unless, of course, he is enjoying his time 45 minutes northwest of the Mile High City.
