Former Colorado football quarterback Joel Klatt, now one of the country’s most notable college football analyst, proclaimed on “The Herd” that the Buffaloes had “hands down” the best offseason of any school in the country.

“Colorado had the best offseason in all of college football,” Klatt said (h/t On3’s Nick Kosko). “Hands down … Well, here’s the deal. Let’s just think of it from a raw standpoint of what Colorado was in October of last year. They were the worst Power Five program in college football…And since that point, what’s happened, they hire Deion Sanders and become the center of the college football world… He gets a five-star recruit, he brings in the top transfer class in America, they sell out their spring game, then they get ahead of all this conference realignment and are the first to move to the Big 12.”

With the top transfer class during the 2023 cycle, it’s hard to dispute that Colorado football improved itself in the short term more than any other program in the country. The icing on top was ditching the sinking ship that is the Pac-12 for a growing Big 12.

Matt Rhule looking to emulate the progress Colorado football made at Nebraska

You know Coach Prime and Colorado football are doing something right when Matt Rhule, Nebraska’s latest head coaching hire looking to drag the Cornhuskers out of their uncompetitive hole, is looking to do the same thing.

“Coach Sanders is making Colorado highly relevant and we’re trying to do the same thing,” Rhule told BuffsBeat. Rhule added that Nebraska and Colorado playing more games is good for the rivalry.

“As many as the old Big Eight games as we can play, the better,” Rhule admitted. “I think it’s great when everyone can drive to see the games.”

Colorado and Nebraska play at Folsom Field on September 9 at 10 AM.
