Coach Prime doesn’t let Colorado players wear opponents’ colors
Coach Prime is embracing tradition in Boulder with the “No Red” rule for his Colorado football players that bars any Buffaloes from sporting the colors of Nebraska according to defensive end Jordan Domineck.
“I was walking around Media Day and saw someone dressed in all red and had to warn them that’s a little too much Nebraska,” Buffs defensive end Jordan Domineck told BuffsBeat. “They should already know Coach Prime doesn’t allow that.”
The Cornhuskers are gunning for their 50th win of the series against CU — one that has been one-sided throughout its history but has favored the Buffs in the last two matchups, which took place in the College Football Playoff era.
Nebraska could become a normal fixture for the Colorado football schedule
BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle believes the Cornhusker could be a Colorado football schedule fixture moving forward with the Buffaloes taking to the Big 12 in 2024 along with Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah.
“Sanders doesn’t need to be reminded of the days when CU-Nebraska was the talk of the Big Eight,” Tolle prefaced before saying, “The Hall-of-Famer lived through that era of Bill McCartney and Tom Osborne going at each other’s throats. It was often the game of the week across the country for over two decades. Now, with Coach Prime and Matt Rhule coming onboard in the Power Five at the same time, it might respark the heated interstate rivalry to become a normal fixture on CU’s schedule again.”
It’s undeniable that the star power of the two coaches makes the Nebraska-Colorado rivalry one that will attract the attention of casual fans familiar with the NFL’s recent and more prominent, but less recent, past featured on the marquee. Deion Sanders’ dramatics in fall camp regarding the rivalry only figure to add to the national interest in a game featuring two recent cellar-dwellers in their respective conferences.
