Journeyman Colorado transfer’s strong endorsement of Buffs offense
Journeyman Colorado football transfer portal addition Javon Antonio, who had stints at Hinds Community College and Northwestern State, had a strong endorsement of the Buffaloes’ offense during fall camp.
“I love the offense,” Antonio said (h/t Buffaloes Wire’s Tony Cosolo). “I love when we go four-set. When we go four-set at receiver, everybody’s getting touches. Everybody is learning and getting our timing right with Shedeur. I just got to go out and do what I got to do. I got to stay focused, go up and be physical, use my size and high point the ball. (I can’t) lose that confidence level that I’ve built up.” BuffStampede’s Jimme Searfoss called Antonio CU’s best-kept secret on offense.
“Despite his loud playstyle on the field, attention towards Antonio remains quiet,” Searfoss prefaced before saying, “He hasn’t participated in many player interviews, and isn’t very active on social media. With players and personalities like Jimmy Horn Jr. and Travis Hunter dominating coverage for wide receivers, Antonio has been one of Colorado’s best-kept secrets throughout the fall.”
Journeyman Colorado football transfer acknowledges being under the radar
Antonio agrees with Searfoss’ assessment of him, acknowledging that he is both under the radar at the moment, and deserving of the “best-kept secret” label.
“What I bring to the table is my physicality, the way I use my body, that’s what I’m known for,” Antonio said. “If a small DB steps up to the table it’s disrespect, I might push him to the ground, he might fall.
“I’m all good with it because once the game comes on, I know who I am and what I can do, people see that, and it’ll come out. But I’m a secret right now, it’ll come out when the game comes on.”
With Shedeur Sanders impressing in fall camp thus far, and Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr. set to be scouted against the most, the sizable Antonio should be able to emerge as an unsung weapon despite his powerful presence.
