To no one’s surprise, two-way Colorado football star, Travis Hunter, made the 2023 Preseason Associated Press All-America first team on Monday. You can check out the full list here.

The former no. 1 prospect and proclaimed “generational talent” by national scouts was listed as a two-way player on the list that came out on Monday. Other names on the first team include Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, John Mackey winner Brock Bowers, and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Hunter has expressed his desire to play on both sides of the ball for Coach Prime as he did at Jackson State in 2022. Before transferring to Boulder, Hunter intercepted two passes, one for a touchdown, as a cornerback and caught four touchdown passes as a receiver.

The Suwanee, Georgia native hasn’t shied away from the spotlight with his infectious personality and electric play on the gridiron. A perfect match for the style of play and persona Colorado football hopes to encompass this fall.

Despite playing his only year of collegiate football at Jackson State, Hunter is still garnering national attention and recognition from the media.

To Colorado football fans, Travis Hunter potentially could be considered one of the best two-way players of all time

Former Kansas State and current Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn received the first-team all-purpose player nod last season. His and Hunter’s position is vastly different, but both players are known for being the necessary spark for their respective teams.

Vaughn captured the national eye last year as he led Kansas State to a Big 12 title and Sugar Bowl appearance against Alabama. At the same time, Travis Hunter almost helped Jackson State complete a perfect season after missing out on a Celebration Bowl victory.

Hunter will make his CU debut on Sept. 2 against No. 17 TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. In his last collegiate football victory, Vaughn faced off against the Horned Frogs, where he ran for 130 yards and a touchdown. Maybe the Buffs can steal some of the Wildcats’ luck against the national runner-up.
