It’s “no surprise” that Warren Sapp visited Deion Sanders’ Colorado football program given the Hall of Fame defensive tackle’s previous statement to Rich Eisen in December 2022, following Coach Prime’s hiring, that he’d like a role on the Buffs’ coaching staff.
“The Colorado Buffaloes welcomed another Hall-of-Famer to campus on Sunday,” the staff of BuffsBeat wrote. “One of the best big-time defensive players known as ‘QBK’, or otherwise Warren Sapp, made a special visit to see Deion Sanders. The NFL Hall-of-Famer, who made his name with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Raiders to end his career in 2007, was part of the NFL Network’s coverage lineup with Sanders. Sapp’s appearance comes as no surprise.” Sapp joked to Eisen on December 6 that he would go back to college so Sanders can find employment for him.
“Hey man, I’m going to get my degree and ask for a job, I promise you that,” Sapp told Eisen before letting out a loud chuckle (h/t 247Sports). “I need to get a degree to coach in college. I left the University of Miami and never looked back. I need to go back and get a couple of classes. … What do they call it? General studies?”
Deion Sanders makes Colorado football a top coaching destination
The Coach Prime spotlight is not something that can be taken lightly. Jackson, Mississippi was transformed into a top college football town in 2021 and 2022, and what Sanders built seems to have worn off on the JSU Tigers given their Week 0 domination of South Carolina State.
With Sanders being compared to Nick Saban by a former righthand man of the Crimson Tide head coach, it only makes sense that people would want to be a branch of the Coach Prime coaching tree.
Sapp sees potential in what has been built in Boulder, which gives the Buffs another valuable believer in their corner.
