Star Colorado transfer ‘impressive’ in response to Dan Lanning potshot
Star Colorado football transfer Travis Hunter was lauded by Ducks Wire’s Zachary Neel for his response to Dan Lanning’s potshot at the Buffaloes program earlier this summer in which he questioned what CU has won in response to a question on what the program leaving for the Big 12 means for the Pac-12.
“For a young kid to have that measured of a response is impressive,” Neel said of Hunter’s response. The 2022 recruiting class’ No. 1 overall recruit claimed that he liked Lanning after being recruited by the former UGA defensive coordinator during his days at Collins Hill in Suwanee, Georgia.
“What coach Dan Lanning is saying… that’s a very good guy,” Hunter prefaced before saying, “He recruited me at Georgia when he was there, so I like him. Like he said, we didn’t win anything, so right now we’re the underdogs. And we’ve got to take over no matter what they say. We’ve just got to go out there and make them eat their words. He’s not saying anything bad, he’s just saying that we didn’t win anything, and it’s like, yea we know that we didn’t win anything. But we comin.”

Oregon analyst: Star Colorado football transfer ‘opted to carry himself with poise’
Hunter got a unanimously positive consensus on his response to Lanning’s potshot at the program — one he shouldn’t feel personally slighted by since he has yet to suit up for a single game for the Colorado football program. Ducks Digest’s Max Torres similarly praised the star cornerback/wideout for “carrying himself with poise.”
“Hunter has become the new face of Deion Sanders’ Colorado team after electing to follow his head coach and transfer from Jackson State this offseason,” Torres prefaced before saying, “He was ranked the No. 1 cornerback recruit in the 2022 class and had a previous relationship with Lanning from his time as a national recruit.
“Hunter didn’t lash out or saying he’ll later regret, but opted to carry himself with poise and let his team’s play on the field do the talking.”
If anyone would’ve condemned the CB for saying the wrong thing, it would’ve been Ducks beat writers. But nope. Hunter played his cards right and likely gained even more fans, this after charming audiences with his healthy love of fishing on the “Coach Prime” documentary on Amazon Prime.
