Colorado football HC Deion Sanders is a true “ball coach,” said legendary long-time SEC head coach at Florida and South Carolina, and Heisman-winning Gator, Steve Spurrier — who praised Coach Prime and a number of his coordinators and Buffs players on the September 6 edition of The Paul Finebaum Show.

“A lot of the media or whatever will say, ‘Well, he’s real loud and this, that and the other,'” Spurrier prefaced before saying, “But he’s a Ball Coach, too. And he’s got his guys prepared and he’s got a good coaching staff, Paul. I don’t know the name of his offensive coordinator, but they know what they’re doing. And his son, Shedeur, I mean, he is a good player. Gosh, he throws a catchable ball. That’s how he throws for 510 yards, set all kind of records in his first game ever in [FBS].” Spurrier shared Rick Neuheisel’s disbelief that Boulder is the center of the college football world in Week 2 of the 2023 season.

“But what was sort of fascinating also is, I think Rick Neuheisel said it, he said, ‘who’d ever thunk the second week of the season, Boulder, Colorado is going to be the center of college football when they play in Nebraska?'”

Colorado football could be center of attention for four weeks in September

Besides their matchup with Colorado State in Week 3, the Buffs have the chance to be the talk of the town all September if they can continue what they started in Week 1 with a 45-42 shocking upset against TCU on the road.

With a date in Autzen with Oregon in Week 4, facing off against Dan Lanning for the first time since he openly questioned whether or not Colorado was much of a loss to the Pac-12, and a home game against USC on September 30.

Things could get even more shocking in the Rockies if Sanders and Co. plan on continuing to shock the world this season. Spurrier and Neuheisel ought to pay attention to the sport’s epicenter until further notice.
