Having now seen what he can do at the Power Five level, most Colorado football fans want Shedeur Sanders to stay in Boulder for as long as humanly possible. Unfortunately, his efforts in Week 1 against TCU mean the NFL may be more likely than a fourth collegiate season with the Buffs.
Never one to sit on his hands and not work, Deion Sanders already has a potential replacement for his son under center: 5-star Belleville (MI) quarterback Bryce Underwood. As Jaquan, Bryce’s father, told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Colorado is “in the picture” for the dynamic dual-threat playmaker.
“They’re definitely in the picture which is a great thing,” Jaquan said of Colorado football. “Especially what they did last week. Great game they had. We were able to talk to Prime. Everybody pitches they want Bryce to take the keys to their offense. They think he’s a guy to backup or be mentored by Shedeur. Just having that opportunity and Prime is a legend. When I was a kid I wanted to be like Prime. I played corner. Having that guy on the other end talking to my son, it was surreal. We really like Colorado.”

You couldn’t ask for a more challenging group of programs for Coach Prime to have to overcome when it comes to Underwood’s recruitment.
There’s his home state program Michigan, which is coming off of a College Football Playoff appearance. There’s the dynastic Alabama Crimson Tide with one of the all-time great head coaches, Nick Saban. Then, there’s even the current king of NIL, making the most money for its athletes in the last two academic years, LSU.
Sanders will have to overcome the odds, but so far, that has been his mantra in a short-lived coaching career at Colorado. So don’t make the mistake of not believing, as the national media did before being publically flogged by Coach Prime at the TCU postgame presser.
