Travis Hunter made a pair of Nebraska defenders look foolish, crashing and burning into each other without the desired objective of taking the two-way star down, in a first-half highlight off a perfectly thrown Shedeur Sanders toss.

Four turnovers from Jeff Sims, three of them being fumbles, helped Colorado build a 13-0 first-half lead against the Cornhuskers. Hunter took a backseat in the first half scoring-wise to Auburn transfer Tar’Varish Dawson, who caught a 30-yard touchdown from another perfectly thrown ball by Sanders.
Coming in as a field goal favorite, the Buffaloes handled their business in the first half of a game that was slow-moving besides the Nebraska turnovers.
Jeff Sims, not Travis Hunter, the story of Nebraska-Colorado
Unfortunately, Hunter, nor Sanders, were the story of a game that CU was fully in control of in the first half. Instead, it was Sims; who struggled for the second straight week for a Nebraska program that doesn’t appear to be on its way to returning to prominence.
If anything, the Buffaloes look more likely to make significant noise in college football this season. They look more likely to compete in the Pac-12 than Nebraska does in the Big Ten. That’s for sure.
Perhaps Sims is the answer in Lincoln, and the turnovers will sort themselves out. But as things stand, the fandom of the corn is struggling with watching drives cut short due to sloppiness with the football.
As for Hunter, the time will come when he becomes the headline once again. He’s on the field for nearly every snap.
