Week 3 Rocky Mountain Showdown tabbed the dreaded ‘T’ word for Colorado
Week 3’s Rocky Mountain Showdown between in-state rivals Colorado State and Colorado football has been tabbed the “T” word, a trap, for the Buffaloes by OutKick’s Clay Travis — who, by virtue of doing his best Admiral Ackbar impression, is all in on the Rams spread as a three-touchdown-plus underdog.
“The market is just too inflated in what is an under the radar major rivalry game,” Travis wrote. “Sure, these two teams haven’t played since 2019, but the Rams have the inexplicable second week of the season bye week so they have been plotting for this game for two weeks now. Plus, come on, you’ve got two huge wins over TCU and Nebraska and on the horizon you’ve got games against Oregon and USC. And in the meantime, you plop a Colorado State team right in the middle here? It’s a trap!
“I’m not saying Colorado will lose — the Rams already lost by 26 to Washington State — but I do think they struggle to cover.”
Colorado football could excel with College GameDay spotlight
Under normal circumstances, Colorado football would be an easy trap game to spot. But as we know, with Coach Prime now at the helm in Boulder, there’s no such thing as normal circumstances for the Buffs.
Knowing the recruiting opportunity that hosting ESPN’s College GameDay on CU’s campus is, it’s hard to see Deion Sanders and his coaching staff not having his guys treating this as just as big as any other game this season.
If the energy in the universe always becomes equal in the end, then all the disrespect and doubting in the offseason is going to be met with its match in belief from these parts. Give this writer a comically oversized hammer and watch that Buffs spread go the way of a whack-a-mole mole: hammered with maximum might.
