Shedeur Sanders threw his first interception as the starting quarterback for the Colorado football program in the first quarter of Week 3’s Rocky Mountain Showdown matchup with Colorado State on September 16.

Per Buffzone’s Brian Howell, the pick by Colorado State’s Henry Blackburn ends a streak of 179 consecutive passes without an interception dating back to the 2022 season in the SWAC at Jackson State.

Sanders came into Week 3 with six touchdowns and 903 passing yards while being sacked 11 times between the TCU and Nebraska matchups.

Star Colorado football transfers Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter avoid pregame scuffle with Colorado State

Week 3 became a far more personal matchup between a ranked Colorado football and an unranked, 0-1 CSU squad when Jay Norvell took a swipe at Coach Prime for not behaving like an adult by wearing a cowboy hat and glasses.

As a result of the pregame trash talk, the Buffs and Rams collided at midfield prior to the game per BuffsBeat’s Jason Jones — but as Jones pointed out, Sanders and fellow star CU transfer Travis Hunter avoided any physical contact.

“The Rocky Mountain Showdown has been amplified by a thousand with all the pregame jawing back-and-forth,” Jones prefaced before saying, “It started with the comments from CSU coach Jay Norvell toward Colorado’s Deion Sanders, but the players are feeling it now too.

“Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders and two-way stud Travis Hunter came out during pregame warm-ups and found himself in the middle of pushing and shoving at midfield from players on both sides. The Heisman hopefuls quickly exited while the players were broken up.”

That’s some valuable Louis Vuitton luggage on the field that luckily was unaffected by the Rocky Mountain Showdown’s pregame squabble. Losing either Heisman candidate would’ve done a world of damage to the Buffs’ prospects moving forward during the 2023 season.

Not today, Satan, said the JSU imports.
