Louis Riddick, the ESPN color commentator during Week 3’s Rocky Mountain Showdown between Colorado State and Colorado football, hyped up Rams tight end Dallin Holker — who caught six passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns — as an NFL prospect during what was a shockingly competitive game. That had CBS Sports Shehan Jeyarajah laughing at Riddick, a former NFL executive from 2001-2013, for jumping in on the “Deion craze” and offering a take that illustrates no prior knowledge of college football.

“The funniest thing about covering CFB during the Deion craze is people who don’t know CFB at all jumping in,” Jeyarajah prefaced before saying, “Like the broadcast said the CSU tight end made NFL scouts very happy with that TD. Nah man, future insurance salesmen doing crazy stuff is why this sport is ELITE.”

Fans did take Jeyarajah to task in the replies, pointing out that actually, Holker is an NFL-caliber prospect for Colorado State.

Dallin Holker seen as an NFL prospect by Rams fans after major outing against Colorado football

Several CSU analysts chimed in on Holker being NFL-ready during his breakout showing against the Buffaloes at Folsom Field in Boulder on September 16 to refute Jeyarajah’s somewhat condescending point.

“Insane grab by Dallin Holker in the end zone,” CSU publication DNVR Rams posted before saying, “He’s an NFL caliber tight end.”

“Dallin Holker is an NFL caliber tight end,” DNVR Rams’ Justin Michael prefaced before saying, “What a portal pickup for the Rams.”

In fact, dating back to 2021 when Holker was at BYU, the Lehi, Utah product was viewed as a pro prospect in progress by those in proximity to Provo.

“(Isaac) Rex is really good, but watch out, Dallin Holker also has NFL talent and is going to turn heads at BYU,” ex-Cougars reporter Terrell Williams wrote back on June 26, 2021.

In conclusion, it looks like Holker is for real and not just a flash in the pan for the Rams after lighting up Colorado’s secondary. And it sounds like there’s a Senior Bowl invite waiting for him by season’s end.
