Is Shilo Sanders playing vs USC? Injury update for Coach Prime’s son
After a stay in the hospital during a 42-6 blowout loss for Colorado football in Eugene, Oregon on September 23, Coach Prime’s son, Shilo Sanders, is a question mark ahead of a Week 5 home matchup against USC.
“The injuries are starting to mount for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes football team,” Buffaloes Wire’s Matt Wadleigh prefaced before saying, “After a loss to Oregon, safety Shilo Sanders, one of Coach Prime’s sons, went to the hospital after urinating blood and his status for Saturday’s game against USC remains up in the air.”
Deion Sanders was optimistic about the chances of his son playing given the progression since the Ducks destruction, though he stopped well short of committing to Shilo playing on September 30 when the 3-1 Buffs take the field against their highest-ranked opponent of the season, No. 8 USC.
“He’s doing better, we went to the hospital right after we landed,” Sanders said. “He plays with a certain physicality that we desire and want. We’re hoping he can play.”
Shilo Sanders clowned for pregame trash talk ahead of Oregon’s Week 4 humbling of Colorado football
Sanders bit off more than he could chew before CU’s one-sided loss to Oregon, chirping at Ducks players that he’d beat their a***s, as well as Dan Lanning’s. OutKick’s David Hookstead referred to the pregame mid-field moment as “downright humiliating.”
“This is about as tough of a look as you can possibly imagine,” Hookstead wrote. “This isn’t simply embarrassing. It’s downright humiliating for Shilo Sanders. If you’re going to run up to an opposing team shouting about how tiny they are, how you’re going to run through their ‘a**’ and beat up their coach, you better win the game.”
A swing and a wild miss there from Sanders in Week 4, who did lead the Buffs in tackles, but crossed the line by threatening the 37-year-old Lanning; even if the Oregon coach was a former linebacker at the Division II level during his playing days.
