Coach Prime may be ‘pressed’ into playing 5-star flip in Deion’s doghouse soon
Coach Prime may have no choice but to deploy 5-star Colorado football offseason flip Cormani McClain soon due to the mounting injuries in the Buffs secondary — this, at least, according to Denver Sports’s Jake Shapiro.
“Without corner and two-way star Travis Hunter, McClain seemed like a natural fit to fill the void,” Shapiro prefaced before saying, “Now Colorado may be down safety Shilo Sanders too, each member of the secondary has suffered injuries to internal organs that sent them to the hospital. The elder Sanders may be pressed into playing McClain soon, especially with future No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams leading the Trojans into Boulder on Saturday.”
The dirty hit to Travis Hunter from Colorado State DB Henry Blackburn during CU’s Week 3 43-35 Rocky Mountain Showdown victory on September 16 is keeping the two-way superstar away, while Shilo Sanders is now potentially on the shelf as well after going to the hospital following the 42-6 drubbing of the Buffs at the hands of Oregon.
Colorado football DB Cormani McClain ‘might be looking elsewhere’
BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle doesn’t believe McClain is long for Boulder, taking from the DB’s social media comments that the Lakeland product “might be looking elsewhere” following Coach Prime’s public callout.
“Sanders got McClain as the highest-ranked player in CU’s 2023 recruiting class,” Tolle prefaced before saying, “He originally committed to Miami, but wanted to follow in Prime’s footsteps as a ‘generational talent.’ McClain is also listed a top ten all-time defensive back from Lakeland HS in Florida, but might be looking elsewhere by the tone of his comments.”
It’s certainly easy to get that from what McClain said.
“You’ll be surprised what happens behind close(d) doors,” McClain prefaced before saying, “(Everything) ain’t just what is seem(s)… But pushing thru politic(s) everyday (is) the only way out!”
If McClain were to see the field, even out of necessity, that could change things for the ex-Miami commit. But would Coach Prime even play McClain out of necessity if he is not a fan of his behavior?
