Coach Prime ain’t hard to find; unless you’re a Pitt fan grasping at straws thinking Deion Sanders would want to take his act to the Steel City in pursuit of a more “urban” environment than Boulder, Colorado.

One fan did such a thing on the Pitt Rivals message board, with the Message Board Geniuses account sharing the screencap.

To recap the suggestion: Coach Prime could replace Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi, who has manned the role since 2015 and led the team to its first New Year’s Six bowl game since 2004 because Sanders wants to be in a big city.

If Coach Prime wanted to be in a city, he’d likely want to be a head coach in the NFL. Which he doesn’t. Joel Klatt confirmed as much via a conversation he had with Sanders about making the jump to the pro ranks.

“I don’t know if he’s going to be at Colorado for sure, I can’t say that, but he’s not going to the NFL,” Klatt said (h/t FOX Sports). “Deion doesn’t want to coach in the NFL. He’s told me that point blank to my face. He believes that his role is more as a mentor. He loves coaching kids, and this is where he feels called.

“In fact, the word he used with us in our meeting, and you’ll know this because he is very forward about his faith, is that he believes this is his ministry — to be there for kids in college, to be there for kids at this moment in their life. … He’s not going to the NFL. Period.”

In college football, it’s all about all-encompassing college towns. Few big city schools, besides your Texas/Miami/USC/UCLA/Washington’s of the world for the most part, tend to do well. In fact, all four of those aforementioned programs have crumbled under the weight of expectations coming from stellar recruiting trail performances turning into disappointing on-field results one time or another.

Coach Prime has already brought a national spotlight to Boulder. Wherever he goes, the cameras and recruits will follow.

He doesn’t need any city more than that city needs him.
