According to BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle, the NCAA’s ruling that will allow North Carolina wideout Tez Walker, a transfer from Kent State who was being denied an immediate eligibility waiver after transferring a second time until October 5, could lead to the Colorado football return of offensive lineman Tyler Brown; who’s dealing with a similar issue coming from Jackson State.
“The NCAA has reversed course on North Carolina receiver Tez Walker’s denial of immediate eligibility, per an announcement on Thursday,” Tolle prefaced before saying, “In a ruling they said there was new evidence presented in the case that ‘qualifies’ Walker to receive a transfer waiver and play this week against Syracuse.
“With news of the decision, Colorado offensive lineman Tyler Brown told BuffsBeat he’s working with the university and the NCAA on getting his ruling reversed as well. Many people believe Brown was wronged and deserves a waiver to play this season.”
Why Colorado football OL Tyler Brown made mental health appeal
On August 25, Brown explained on his YouTube channel why he made the mental health appeal that has so far been denied by the NCAA.
“My mental health appeal wasn’t a made up scenario to justify me coming to Colorado to play,” Brown said (h/t HBCU Gameday). “I’ve struggled with my mental health my entire life. I’ve been going to therapy and on antidepressants as well as anxiety medication since I was 18 years old. It’s nothing I’m ashamed of or hide from.
“There are some days I don’t even wanna leave my apartment and just isolate. Football has always been the largest tool in helping me through my struggles and not having that hurts. But, I will continue to push through and find a way every single day to be the best Tyler Brown I can be. This is a call to action.”
