BuffsBeat’s Nick Ferguson took a staunch stance against an anonymous Pac-12 coach’s accusation toward Shedeur Sanders that the star Colorado football transfer quarterback is stat-padding by taking sacks and not throwing the ball away in an effort to preserve his completion percentage.

“Sanders wasn’t going to allow this nonsense to continue without speaking his piece,” Ferguson wrote before later saying, “Sanders has 1,781 yards with 15 TDs and 2 INT on the season, which is second-best in FBS. What’s missed entirely from the argument of the anonymous coach is why Shedeur has the best competition percentage with the most attempts in the Power Five. In fact, he’s the only major QB going into week 6 with over 200 attempts.”

Sanders had the perfect set of insults in return for the nameless coach — complete with the ultimate putdown that said anonymous coach’s quarterback had to take as a stray due to the mouthing off.

“Whatever coach said that is Goofy, he’s lame,” Sanders said. “Right had to God, he would rather have me than his guy.”

What anonymous coach said about star Colorado football transfer Shedeur Sanders

The anonymous coach went hard in his accusations towards Sanders, saying the quarterback specifically changed his game in order to benefit himself at the expense of his own team.

“I think they want to rack up some stats for Shedeur,” the anonymous assistant coach told The Athletic. “He really holds on to the ball a long time. I think he takes sacks because he doesn’t want to affect his completion percentage. He’s playing a little different than he did earlier in the season. Before he showed that he was willing to step up and escape through the B-gaps. Now, he’s retreating more.”

As Ferguson pointed out, Sanders is not running from the challenge of airing it out against Pac-12 defenses; in fact, quite the opposite. Just remember though, whether what you’re saying is true or false, having Coach Prime’s name, the names of his kids, or the names of his other star players in your mouth will get you noticed.

Just as the Undertaker does, though, the Buffs may make you famous in return.
