Following a last-minute win over ASU via a game-winning field goal by Alejandro Mata, fans on Twitter trashed clutch Colorado football star Shedeur Sanders — whose 43-yard pass to Javon Antonio that set up the 43-yard FG — for approaching the crowd in Tempe and doing his trademark flashing of his watch.

“This is exactly why people want them to lose,” one user prefaced before saying, “Barely beating a 1-4 team and doing this is clown behavior.”

“Lemme flex on my mid performance against a one-win team ya!!!!” sarcastically remarked another.

“He went from Heisman candidate to flexing over beating Arizona State,” harshly but truthfully said another.

“This right up there with Manziel’s ‘money’ hand gestures, at Texas A&M,” one user prefaced before warning, “Some team is going to take exception to his antics and retaliate.”

“He showed that 1 loss team,” one user quipped before snarkily saying, “Colorado sure does feel great about being 1 inch taller than the very short.”

“He was outplayed by a third strong QB and still get this,” another prefaced before saying, “That’s why they need to lose.”

“I beat a 1-4 team and my daddy is famous look at meeeeeeeeee,” wrote one of Sanders’s biggest haters.

Colorado football offense takes backseat in narrow Week 6 win

This win, more than any other during the 2023 season, was one that was earned by Charles Kelly’s defense and the special teams unit; which didn’t have the greatest game overall, but could claim Mata’s game-winner.

Sanders had his second-lowest yardage total outside of Oregon’s thorough domination of the Buffs on both sides of the ball against ASU and the running back room had just 72 rushing yards. It wasn’t there day, and narrowly, it didn’t have to be.

Of course, more outings like today won’t lead Colorado any closer to a bowl game. Don’t think Coach Prime isn’t letting his players know that as we speak.
