The RedditCFB account on Twitter/X either trolled its followers — which it has been known to do from time to time — or is convinced that recent events could be pushing Coach Prime to The U far sooner than anyone would have predicted.

“Deion-Miami timeline rapidly accelerating,” the account wrote in response to Miami AD Dan Radakovich was in attendance for Mario Cristobal’s press conference on October 9; this after a fumble on a designed run play in the final minute of a 23-20 loss to Georgia Tech that 99.999999% of offensive coordinators would’ve called a kneel instead.

The Sun Sentinel’s Adam Lichtenstein made sure to clarify that Cristobal isn’t going to be imminently fired amidst the tweet/X-post getting engagement.

“For the record, since I’ve seen it going around now, I don’t think this is any indication that Mario Cristobal is on the hot seat,” Litchenstein said.

Coach Prime to Miami would be huge slap in the face to Deion Sanders’s alma mater

We know Coach Prime’s relationship with his alma mater, Florida State, is rocky as it is. But if Deion Sanders went to Miami, it’d be practically irreparable.

FSU and The U have been jostling for position in the Sunshine State for the top of the ACC pecking order, but neither has been particularly successful in the College Football Playoff until the recent Mike Norvell-led surge in Tallahassee in 2023. Sanders’s presence would dramatically sway the tide in Miami’s favor considering he’s already flipping top Florida prospects to join him in Boulder, Colorado.

With UF always having endless resources and UCF joining the Power Five fray, the battle for Florida supremacy could be won by whoever gets Sanders to join them. Miami and Florida could certainly use the boost, while UCF may soon want to swap out a struggling and subdued Gus Malzahn for the sport’s most engaging figurehead.

Of course, Sanders may like what he has in Colorado, so Coach Prime’s home state’s schools will have to find a different culture-shifter.
