‘Evident’ Week 7 opponent’s HC respects Coach Prime and Colorado
Stanford head coach Troy Taylor didn’t take the low road taken by the likes of Dan Lanning — who implied everything Colorado football does in 2023 is “for clicks” — and Colorado State’s Jay Norvell, who made things personal by attacking Connie Knight’s parenting, but instead gave flowers to Coach Prime and the Buffs. According to All Cardinal’s Kevin Borba, it’s “evident” that Taylor respects Deion Sanders.
“Similar to Stanford head coach Troy Taylor, Sanders is also in his first year as a Pac-12 head coach as they both made jumps from the FCS level after creating monstrous programs at Sacramento State and Jackson State respectively,” Borba prefaced before saying, “While they have also been in the same spaces around the same times, their paths never crossed, it was evident when speaking to the media that Taylor has developed quite the respect for Sanders.”
Taylor’s Cardinal squad has struggled mightily in the first year of his tenure, losing to FCS Sacramento State, which to be fair is a power at that level, but also being the only Pac-12 team to make USC look like a College Football Playoff contender. Coming in as two-score underdogs to Boulder, there is little pressure on Taylor; considering Stanford is likely not looking to shake things up ahead of their 2024 ACC jump.
Coach Prime and Colorado football earning respect week by week
How Coach Prime handled CU’s 42-6 thrashing at Oregon’s hands, after a pregame that looked like it’d escalate into an Autzen incident, showed that he’s not a sore loser. The fight that the Buffs showed against USC when down three scores showed they don’t just give up.
While the postgame antics of some Week 6 against ASU were a bit flashier than most would’ve liked to see from Shedeur Sanders and Co., the lovefest Coach Prime and Sun Devils head coach Kenny Dillingham shared shows that Deion respects the coaching fraternity.
At this point, the only reason one from the coaching ranks would hate on Coach Prime is because he flipped one of their recruits or “for clicks.”
