Colorado football star Travis Hunter made his long-awaited return against Stanford on October 13, and in the first quarter at Folsom Field against the Cardinal defense, No. 12 did the spectacular — taking a Shedeur Sanders pass in the flats to the house following a highlight-reel spin for the ages.

The 12-yard touchdown extended the Buffs lead to two touchdowns in the first quarter; following a spectacular first drive driven almost completely by Sanders, who amassed 72 all-purpose yards and a passing touchdown.

As it turns out, the touchdown was a historic one for Hunter…

Travis Hunter scores first touchdown for Colorado football and as an FBS player

Not only did Hunter score his first tuddy as a Buff in Week 7, but he simultaneously scored his first touchdown at the FBS level altogether. Though Hunter had 213 receiving yards on 16 catches in the first two games and the first quarter of CU’s third game, he had yet to find the end zone.

Hunter scored the first of what can be many touchdowns in Boulder over the next two seasons before becoming a likely top pick in the 2025 NFL draft. While Friday the 13th has a bad connotation for most, it’ll always be the day No. 12 found the end zone for the first time.

Analyst: Coach Prime comparing Travis Hunter to himself ‘motivating’

Buffalo Rumbling’s Sara Larson believes that Coach Prime comparing Hunter to himself is a major positive for the two-way star who is looking to follow in Deion Sanders’ footsteps.

“Prime comparing Travis Hunter to himself has got to be one of the most motivating things in this young man’s career,” Larson prefaced before saying, “He’s destined for big things.”

It’s hard to argue with that. Though many can knock Coach Prime for his coaching style, you have to give Sanders credit for getting Hunter to commit to a SWAC school and then a down-on-its-luck Colorado instead of schools like Georgia, Michigan, and Florida State.
