Three-time NFL All-Pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy “has a point” with his warning to Coach Prime about overusing his two-way Colorado football star Travis Hunter according to ClutchPoints’ Scotty White.

“Gerald McCoy has a point,” White prefaced before saying, “Hunter is in college and these snaps are definitely taking a big toll on his body. He is also not getting much time at all to rest between possessions, and that is likely having a big effect on his game as well.”

McCoy tweeted into the night/early morning on October 13 about how Hunter won’t see his talents maximized playing every night; concerning that it’s okay on some nights but counterproductive on most.

“I said it once imma say it again, Travis playing entirely too many snaps,” McCoy wrote. “He either has to pick a side or cut back. 1 or 2 games that’s cool. But practice plus games playing both sides of the ball. Naw man. It’s too much. Can’t maximize the athlete like that.”

Travis Hunter will be remembered for getting ‘Mossed’ after Colorado football stunningly lost to Stanford

Hunter had his best game as a Buff in Week 7 against Stanford, amassing 140 receiving yards and his first two receiving touchdowns at the FBS level. Unfortunately, as Daily Bruin’s Gavin Carlson notes, his performance will be better remembered by Elic Ayomanor “Mossing” him in overtime for his third touchdown in what was a 294-yard masterclass at wideout for the Cardinal.

“Travis Hunter put a player in a blender while at WR and was solid for most of the night at CB, and yet his performance tonight will be remembered for him getting MOSSED here,” Carlson prefaced before saying, “It was good defense too. Cornerback is the cruelest position in ALL of sports, period.”

Hunter will most certainly recover, but that Ayomanor catch will be the enduring image from a game to forget for the Colorado faithful.
