Stanford commit hilariously miscategorized Colorado football
Stanford commit Benedict Umeh hilariously miscategorized the Colorado football program as a “powerhouse” during an excited response to CardinalSportsReport’s Ben Parker in the aftermath of the Cardinal’s stunning comeback win on October 13 in Boulder.
“Colorado proved that Coach Taylor and the rest of Stanford has what it takes to beat powerhouse teams,” Umeh prefaced before saying, “I know the schedule doesn’t get any easier after this, but it was still really inspiring to see.”
After knocking off TCU, the hype for CU reached an unfathomable fever pitch. All of a sudden, Shedeur Sanders was a projected NFL first-round pick, and some were even firing off Pac-12 Championship futures tickets for the Buffs. Things only ratcheted up after Colorado destroyed Nebraska, and then peaked following the triumphant double-overtime Rocky Mountain Showdown thriller over Colorado State. What peaked next was two-fold: the ratings for the Buffs this season against Oregon, as well as a 42-6 beatdown by the Ducks’ hands that, by itself, disqualifies CU from being considered a powerhouse.
Win over Colorado football a major recruiting win for Stanford
Parker believes that the win over Colorado was critical for the Cardinal on the recruiting trail as well as the standings — with the matchup at Folsom Field in Week 7 showing that Stanford is “a place where you can win” according to the CardinalSportsReport publisher.
“While this was just one game out of 12, this was still a major win for Stanford both on the field and on the recruiting trail,” Parker prefaced before saying, “Recruits want to know that the program they are joining has the potential to win and Friday night’s game showed that Stanford can be a place where you can win.”
That win should’ve been Colorado’s, but focus was lost in the second half of the Stanford embarrassment. Now, the Buffs stare at a strong possibility that the 2023 schedule won’t have a bowl game tacked onto the end of it without a miracle or two.
