Colorado football career rushing leader No. 4: Bobby Purify 2000-2004

  • 3,096 rushing yards
  • 20 rushing touchdowns
  • 5.0 yards per rush

The Colorado program bottomed out in 2000, Bobby Purify’s first year in Boulder. It was Gary Barnett’s second season and Purify wasn’t a big part with 177 yards on 45 attempts. From that point the Colorado Buffaloes got better and so did Purfy.

In 2001, Purify ran for 916 yards on 157 carries and the Buffs went 10-3 after a 3-8 record the year before. Purify continued to be a staple in the backfield, even returning for a fifth year after his senior season in 2003 was derailed by injury.

In 2004, his final season, he ran for 1,097 yards and nine touchdowns.
